It is Father’s Day 2020!
Father’s Day is to celebrate the male gender and honor fatherhood. Let’s use this year to praise fathers for their past good works while we also charge them to an improved life of positive impacts.
On this occasion, we pay tribute to you fathers but we need to tell you that this generation needs you to get it right in all facets of life especially in lifestyle and family life.
Proverbs 1:8 enjoins children to obey the instructions of their father. This means children need men who will dish out correct and wisdom laced instructions.
Father’s Day – God Needs Fathers!
God dearly needs fathers who will be strong and true (faithful men).
Real men who are ready to bear responsibilities…
The ones who have cordial relationship with the Great FATHER.
Those who know their God.
Honorable fathers that honor God.
Men who command respect. We can call them “respectable men”.
They are priests from the royal priesthood who don’t abuse the office.
Males that have clear and direct signal with the Trinity any day and at anytime.
Fathers that replicate the heavenly Father’s Love here on earth.
This Generation Needs Fathers
Fathers who are not sexual predators.
Fathers who don’t molest but protect. They don’t take undue advantage of the female gender.
These ones own up to their mistakes. They know being vulnerable is possible and are not ashamed to own up and rectify their mistakes quickly before they become neck deep into sin.
These men love their wives dearly as Christ has instructed them; this they model to the children.
They know the children must not be provoked to anger.
First mentors to the children.
Can we have men whose mouths only pronounce blessings?
The fathers who are role models indeed and in deed.
We need men who will create time for the children; fathers with listening ears.
Men with spiritual foresight in the order of Israel who gathered his children and told them what will happen to them in the future.
Brothers with economic foresight and accurate projections like Joseph in the land of Egypt.
Fathers who know the mind of God concerning each child that comes from their loins.
We are referring to male parents who are sensitive enough to know and take prompt action to change what would have become an evil destiny of a child to good like in the case of Israel and Benjamin.
They don’t father only their biological children but every child that comes their ways. You can’t come in contact with these men and your life will remain the same
The world needs fathers who don’t soil their hands in a bid to leave inheritance for generation yet unborn.
Correct fathers who do the right things in whatever sector they find themselves. You find them excelling and impacting positively in politics, education, economy, health, judiciary and even business.
There’s a recruitment for Godly Fathers in a godless world.
Will you be willing to be a father whose heart God can trust?
In the midst of the gifts that may roll in today, create time in the place of communion with God for grace of fatherhood.
Distinguished Men of Honor
As we celebrate the father’s day, let’s check out few men in the Bible.
To the Abraham
A man who walked with God and God was confident of his parental ability and vouched for him “For I know him to command his children and household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just…”
Abraham practically taught his son how to completely obey and trust God. The lad asked for the animal that would be used for sacrifice and he responded “God himself will provide the lamb…” and God indeed provided.
Sir Abraham doesn’t leave chores to his wife alone.
This we saw when some visitors came around and he needed to get them refreshed with food. The Bible says he hastened to the tent to tell Sarah his wife to quickly bake cakes while he ran to the herd to take a good calf for his young men to prepare it.
Something fascinating about Sir Abraham was that he wasn’t the type that only dish out orders to the wife and leaving her to figure out things to be done. He gave suggestions on what they could fix up for the guests within a short time.
After he had put things in motion, he could then sit with the visitors and gist.
One thing you will also love about this man is the fact that he didn’t allow ego or the shame of “what will people say of me”; he served the guests himself. “So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them…” He understood that Madam Sarah needed to have a clean bath after sweating it out in the kitchen in order to prepare the meal; so Instead of delaying the guests, he took the food and served the men.
Sir Abraham was 10 years older than Madam Sarah, yet he treated her with respect and helped out in the kitchen affair as well.
To the Lapidoth
This man gives the needed space for his woman to succeed and fulfill purpose!
Daddy Lapidoth understood the ministry of his dear wife and provided the wings she could fly with. Are you wondering how I got to know? As a married woman I can testify to the fact that if the home front wasn’t settled, she wouldn’t have the courage and morale to be a judge. Trust people to dig up her story and use it against her.
This man was secured in his own world and in the world of his woman. He wasn’t threatened by the wife’s success because he understood the word team spirit which means the success of one is success of all.
He doesn’t mind leaving the stage for his talented woman to shine in the process of fulfilling her purpose in life. He wasn’t offended that the whole nation hallowed his wife Deborah. Being called Brother Lapidoth didn’t bother him while his wife was in ministry and being called a judge.
Lapidoth would always take care of the home front while the wife was on the battle field. We didn’t read that he was philandering while Deborah was absent from home because she had to coordinate the war against the enemies of the nation of Israel. A man who knew what purpose is!
He doesn’t hinder the spiritual gifts of his woman. The woman is able to perform the as a prophetess, a wife, a professional because he supports
To the Boaz
The Book of Ruth
Let’s call him a sexually disciplined man.
Even though he had the opportunity of enjoying the free and inviting meal of Sister Ruth, he decided to delay gratification until the needful was done.
He would have been justified if he had sex with her because his heart was merry (he was drunk). Besides, she was the one that went to meet him at his resting place; a suggestive move but No! He knew men of integrity don’t take advantage of vulnerable women in their desperate state.
Boaz doesn’t embarrass the female folk.
He will rather marry his woman in the presence of God and human witnesses than have premarital sex with her.
The blessing of his town people was important and dear to him than the few minutes of pleasure of sin.
The savior of the world came from his lineage.
We have many examples of Godly men in the Bible that men of today can pattern their lives after. The society will be better if fathers rise to their God given responsibilities.
Men need to align themselves with God’s agenda for this generation. Parental responsibilities shouldn’t be left into the hands of mothers alone.
Use this year’s father’s day to ruminate on the fact that spiritual vigor and capacity is not meant for the female gender alone but what both gender should strive to build through constant fellowship with the Father.
We love and appreciate the sacrifices of fathers and we say renewed strength in Jesus’ name.
Happy Father’s Day!
