It is a year to love Jesus more and one of the ways to show the love is to feed the sheep.
Is compliment of the season still in order? I believe so, at least till we can conclude the year is no longer new.
It’s been a while and I’m so sorry for going AWOL; you deserve the apology. We’ve been on a good journey together so taking a break without informing you is wrong on my part, please pardon this young lady. It wasn’t something planned neither intentional but life indeed happens.
Even though I couldn’t post here, I was still writing (it’s a lifestyle that is part of me. You can call it me). The break gave me the privilege to connect with my Facebook followers as well but something major happened.
Just as Jesus met with Peter when he left his primary assignment in life and went back to his former business of fishing “Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto Him, yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him feed my sheep” (John 21: 15-17). Jesus asked Peter the same question and instruction three consecutive times. This was so me in the course of the break because I could literally hear God telling me to feed His sheep. Even though I went about pursuing other things, the guilt as a result of neglecting you didn’t leave me.
I’m back, Glory to God!
Let’s learn some lessons together.
Feed the Sheep.
WHAT HAS GOD COMMITTED INTO YOUR HAND?
God placed the lives of other disciples into the hands of Simon Peter but when life struck, he left the assignment to go hustle for what to eat and drink.
What is/Who are the sheep?
The Sheep is the assignment God has placed in your hand. The sheep are the people you are sent to. Did you know that no one is without a sheep? You and I have been sent to some sheep; it is just for us to identify our sheep and commit to feeding them well.
Your own sheep might be the passion, vision and ideas God has dropped in your heart waiting for you to brood over and take the necessary steps to their actualization.
The sheep can be to reach out to teenagers, women, prisoners, the sick, widows, the elderly. To another, it might be a ministry to communities through medical and welfare outreaches.
Where are the sheep?
They are everywhere! Take time in the place of prayer to identify the sheep you are sent to. Just as Jesus sent the twelve disciples to the lost sheep of Israel with an instruction for them not to enter into the cities of the gentiles. God is ever ready to lead you to your audience, however feed from Him first.
What are you to feed the sheep with?
What to feed the sheep with is something not easy to unless in the place of prayer as well so you can know what your sheep are hungry for per time. It can be hunger for straw this minute and in few hours it becomes hunger for green leaves and thirst for water. You can feed your sheep with knowledge that you have in the word of God or from your secular skill set.
There could be a switch in which you as the shepherd will also need to be fed. A Shepherd who fails to feed himself as he takes care of the sheep will also go hungry and faint. Spiritual drought is real but can be sorted by sitting with the word. The Bible says in Matthew 5: 6 Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled”.
The truth is, the sheep are hungry. There’s hunger and thirst in the world today and God is counting on you and I to go feed them.
In all, what we will receive reward for is the sheep we feed.
Love Jesus, don’t fall out of His love. Feed the sheep
